The Fall Issue of XO, Sweet Dee
The leaves are changing right before our eyes and they’ll be on the ground underneath our toes before we know it. Let’s walk though a beautiful, cinnamon scented and crisp fall morning together. We’ll begin the day by sipping a Pumpkin Spice Latte and whipping up the most vibrant fall brunch that will dance upon your tongue. We’ll spend the rest of our fall day picking a favorite squash from the farmers market and turning it into something magical, put on your best red lip classic because we are throwing a party right out of 1989. Into the afternoon we have game time for s(n)ack time! Celebrate football season with dishes that pay homage to your team. The evening and full hunter’s moon in taurus strikes as the ghouls, goblins and skeletons all come out for a stunning dinner party. When the party is over we’ll stain hot water with the season’s best tea leaves, call a friend for advice, curl up with a spooky story or take a look at the accomplishments we’ve made this season so far.
This year has flown by as if we got caught in an eastern bound jet stream. Carrying our delicate beings in something we are supposed to blindly trust, eyes closed, smooth sailing until the humming of the engine all of a sudden stops.
Open your eyes, you are falling; not down, but perhaps something better.
Falling back…
...Into the swing of things
…into a routine
…in love
…into place.
I began this magazine back in May with a tall, standing up straight sort of expectation to pour my mind out onto approximately fifty bound pages held together with a crooked spine each and every month that the calendar year held. This basis of my individual conciousness decided this frequency with no mind to the intense day to day tasks in my schedule that already needed my attention. I found myself not being able to sit up straight with all of this weight on my shoulders and the only spine that I needed to focus on was my own.
Which now brings us to four issues per year and understanding my biggest issue of simply doing too much is directly equated to setting yourself up for failure. SO after these realizations I began the journey of falling back into it. Falling back into taking care of my health, falling back in love with my own life and romanticizing exactly why I got on the plane to begin with. Hobbies feel as if they are chores, you begin to dread waking up in the morning as you migrate through your to do list the night prior, and things begin to feel mundane. Which is the opposite reason of why I’m here, the magazine was created to celebrate each and every day. Celebrate colors, seasons, flavors, holidays, yourself, your relationships. Embrace an art of slower living, savoring and digging out those old rose colored glasses we have all seen with at one time or another. It’s time to put them back on and let yourself
fall.
You are now free to move about the cabin.
